Desert Rain The
Desert Rain Band specializes in retro top 40 music from the 60's to current day.
The band was established back in 1994 and prides itself on utilizing the
latest technological advances in musical equipment to produce a high quality
sound for its listeners. This
technology, combined with many years of musical experience, gives us an edge
over many larger bands in terms of providing a whole lot of sound in a small
amount of space. The final ingredient is the type of music we play.
Desert Rain defines versatility and has carefully selected familiar songs
produced over the past four decades from all different styles of music. The result is an extensive library of music guaranteed to
satisfy the musical tastes of just about everyone.
Desert
Rain is a part-time venue for all of its members.
We are dedicated professionals who view this endeavor as a way to express
our passion for music through the entertaining of others for their listening and
dancing enjoyment. This attitude is
clearly expressed through the professional and high-energy image we portray
while performing. The Desert Rain Members Michael G: Lead keyboardist/back-up vocalist:
Mike has been playing for over 20 years in the Lehigh Valley and Poconos
with different cover bands including Odyssey, Thunderbolt and the Freedom-Airs.
He originated the Desert Rain Band in 1994 and is often described as the
quiet guy behind the keyboards. Mike’s
love of music and technology is cornerstone to creating the sounds of Desert
Rain. He utilizes two keyboards to play an assortment of live sounds including
piano, strings, horns, and special effects.
On board computers provide the remaining bass, drums, and synthesized
sounds. Mike also provides
back up vocals, lights and sound. Rita: Lead Vocalist: Rita
has trained with Gloria Davis, a renowned professional voice instructor who has
worked extensively with solo vocalists and bands. Rita joined Desert Rain 7
years ago and has a huge vocal range and versatile voice quality enabling her to
reproduce the vocal sounds of a large assortment of artists.
Her love of all types of music is evident in her soft renditions of
Shania Twain, Faith Hill, and Maria Carey to her rock renditions of ZZ Top, Joan
Jett and Janis Joplin. Rita truly
loves to perform. Ask her, and
she’ll tell you that this is the best job she could ever ask for.
Watch her, and you will see by her high energy and enthusiasm that
she’s not kidding – she loves this job – and it shows. Steve M: Lead Vocalist/Lead and Rhythm Guitar:
Steve has played with many bands including Midnight Rain, Sky High,
Suspect and Alias. The addition of
Steve, four years ago, greatly enhanced the versatility of the Desert Rain Band.
He’s a rocker at heart, which is evident in his superior guitar playing
and vocal renditions of Roadhouse Blues and Sedated.
But don’t let him kid you… he can sing an awesome ballad and has been
known to even play a bit of disco… but don’t tell him we told you that… Mike
B: Lead
Vocalist/Lead and Rhythm Guitar: Mike
is the newest member of the Desert Rain Band joining us in 2003.
He has played with so many accomplished musicians, we don’t have enough
space to list them. We are so happy
to have him join our group with his accomplished
guitar playing skills and his personable and melodic voice. Mike is a funny guy, has a great
sense of humor and is the master of music trivia.
